This innovative device, recently validated by the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), represents a crucial advance in food safety and the sustainability of fishing grounds.

The problem: reintroduction of anisakis into the ecosystem

Until now, ships that eviscerate fish on board return the viscera to the sea without prior treatment, which favors the proliferation of anisakis and other parasites in marine ecosystems. This not only affects the quality of the fish that reaches the market, but also increases the risks to public health, as anisakis can cause allergic reactions and digestive problems in consumers.

The solution: Tedepad, a pioneering system

To address this challenge, Tedepad acts directly on the anisakis larvae present in fish viscera, inactivating them before they are released back into the sea. In this way, fish can feed on them without risk of infection, reducing the spread of the parasite in fishing grounds and ensuring safer and more sustainable fishing.

The system has been developed in collaboration with CSIC, complying with the standards of the EFSA Scientific Committee and the FAO/WHO Codex Alimentarius. Its validation opens the door to its integration in newly built vessels and in fleets already in operation, allowing a significant advance in the control of anisakis.

Tedepad Features

Tedepad adapts to different needs of fishing vessels, offering three models according to their processing capacity:

🔹 <g id="gid_0">T-XL Yellow</g>: 2240x550x550 mm | Capacity: <g id="gid_1">600 kg/hour</g>
🔹 <g id="gid_2">T-M Green</g>: 2000x500x500 mm <g id="gid_4">| Capac</g>ity: <g id="gid_3">200 kg/hour</g>
🔹 T-S Blue: 17 <g id="gid_5">50x400x400</g> mm | Capacity: 50 kg/hour

This development represents a milestone in Spanish fisheries innovation, consolidating Spain as a benchmark in the technological sector applied to food safety and marine sustainability. With the implementation of Tedepad, the fishing industry will be able to reduce the impact of anisakis in the oceans and offer consumers a higher quality and safer product.

Image obtained from Marexi’s Linkedin.
